Sarah Leary is the Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing at Nextdoor, the free and private social network for neighborhoods.
A seasoned product and marketing professional, Leary started her career at Microsoft, where she worked for nearly five years as a product manager on the teams that launched the first three versions of Microsoft Office. In 1997, Leary left Microsoft to attend Harvard Business School and went on to work as an associate at Greylock Partners. She moved on to join Epinions where she served as Vice President of Product and Marketing, before the company relaunched as Shopping.com. Sarah was the Vice President of Product at Shopping.com when the company went public in 2004, and was then acquired by eBay. She was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Benchmark before co-founding the company that became Nextdoor.
At Nextdoor, Leary has spearheaded innovative marketing campaigns like Nextdoor’s City Partnership strategy. Under Leary, Nextdoor has grown from a single neighborhood in California to more than 35,000 neighborhoods, representing 1 in 5 U.S. neighborhoods, in all 50 states.
Leary is from Andover, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard University with a BA and an MBA.
Favorite neighborhood memory: spending summers in a tight-knit community on Cape Cod where the kids could stop at any house in the neighborhood for lunch and ride bicycles in the middle of the street with other kids until midnight without getting into too much mischief.
